1. Who we are

This Cookie Policy explains how SiteWrite Ltd, a company incorporated in England and Wales with company number 17177709 whose registered office is at 91 Princess Street, Manchester, M1 4HT (“we”, “us”, “our”) uses cookies and similar technologies on the SiteWrite website at sitewrite.ai and on the application sub-domains app.sitewrite.ai and admin.sitewrite.ai (together, the “Sites”).

This policy should be read alongside our Privacy Policy, which covers how we handle personal data more generally.

2. What cookies are

A cookie is a small text file that a website saves to your device when you visit it. The website can read that file on later visits to remember things about you — for example, that you are logged in, or that you have already accepted a notice.

There are similar technologies (local storage, session storage, IndexedDB, web beacons) that work in different ways but serve the same purposes. Where this policy refers to “cookies”, it includes those equivalents. Our applications rely mainly on browser local storage and IndexedDB rather than traditional cookies; both are covered below.

3. The cookies and storage we use

We use a small set of strictly necessary cookies and equivalent browser storage, no analytics or advertising cookies, and no third-party tracking cookies.

3.1 Cookies

3.2 Application storage (app.sitewrite.ai and admin.sitewrite.ai)

The SiteWrite applications store the following in your browser’s local storage, session storage or IndexedDB. These are strictly necessary or functional, are set only within the applications (not the marketing website), and are not shared with any third party.

Product-tour flag Functional Remembers that you have seen or dismissed the in-app product tour, so it is not shown again. Persistent until cleared.
AI-assistant usage counter Functional Keeps a local count of your AI-assistant interactions to support in-app usage guidance and soft limits. Persistent until cleared.

These cookies and storage items are classed as “strictly necessary” or functional under the UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR). The strictly necessary items are essential for the Sites to function and are exempt from the consent requirement. We do not need to ask your permission to set them, but we want you to know they exist.

4. Analytics and error monitoring

To understand how visitors use sitewrite.ai — for example, which pages are most popular, what proportion of traffic comes from search engines, and how the site performs on mobile — we use Plausible Analytics.

Plausible is a privacy-respecting analytics tool that:

  • does not set cookies on your device;
  • does not collect or store any personal data, IP addresses (beyond a brief, hashed processing step that is never retained), or cross-site identifiers;
  • does not build a profile of you across visits or across other websites;
  • is hosted in the European Union (Germany).

Because Plausible does not set cookies and does not process personal data in a way that requires consent, we do not need to show you a cookie consent banner under PECR or UK GDPR for our use of Plausible. You can read more about how Plausible works at plausible.io/data-policy.

Within the applications we also use Sentry for error monitoring and performance diagnostics. Sentry is configured with session replay disabled and personal-data capture turned off, and it does not set advertising or tracking cookies. It is described further in our sub-processor list and Privacy Policy.

5. Embedded content from other websites

Pages on the Sites may occasionally include embedded content (for example, demo videos or screenshots). Embedded content from other websites behaves in exactly the same way as if you had visited the other website directly, including the cookies that other website may set.

We try to use embeds in their privacy-friendliest mode where possible (for example, a video provider’s “privacy-enhanced” mode). You should check the cookie policy of any third-party site whose content you interact with. Where an embed sets non-essential cookies, we will obtain your consent before it loads (see section 6).

6. Advertising cookies

We do not currently run any third-party advertising or marketing trackers on the Sites. There are no Google Ads, Meta Pixel, LinkedIn Insight Tag, X Pixel, or similar trackers in use.

If we add any in the future (or if any are introduced on the marketing website), we will:

  • update this Cookie Policy to list them clearly;
  • add a cookie consent banner so you can give or refuse consent before any non-essential cookie is set;
  • only set those cookies after you have given consent.

7. How to control cookies

Because the cookies and storage we set are strictly necessary or functional, switching them off in your browser will affect your ability to use the Sites — for example, you will not be able to stay logged in, and offline survey capture will not work. With that caveat, you are free to control or delete cookies and site storage in your browser at any time.

Most browsers let you:

  • see which cookies and site data are stored on your device;
  • delete some or all of them;
  • block cookies from specific sites or all sites;
  • set notifications when cookies are set.

You can also use a browser-level setting like “Do Not Track” or a privacy-focused browser. Our use of Plausible respects these signals because Plausible never collects personal data in the first place.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top shows the most recent revision. If we ever start using cookies that require your consent (for example, advertising or third-party analytics cookies), we will introduce a consent banner before doing so and update this policy.
